Bus Riders

: The ELC offers bus service to its participants whenever possible. To assure the safety of children riding the bus, it is important that each parent/care-giver or authorized person comply with the following procedures in addition to the school bus regulations.
Children must be dressed and ready when the bus arrives. Parent/Care-giver or authorized person (18 years of age of older) must accompany children to the bus doors when loading or unloading and to help children on and off the bus, if necessary. Only the parent/caregiver or authorized person can get children off the bus. Bus driver or staff may require photo identification at any time if they have not seen the person before.
If parent/caregiver or authorized person is not at the bus stop when the bus arrives, the child will be returned to the ELC. The ELC will call the numbers on the emergency card. If after 30 minutes no one has come for the child, the child could be considered abandoned, and Social Services could possible by notified. a.The 1st time this occurs, the parent/caregiver will receive a telephone call from the ELC Social Worker or the Family Engagement Facilitator. A letter will be delivered to the parent/caregiver to document the telephone notice and conversation. b.The 2nd time this occurs, the parent/caregiver will receive a written warning from the ELC Social Worker or the Family Engagement Facilitator. c.The 3rd time this occurs, the parent/caregiver will have a conference with the Principal, Grant Coordinator, ELC Social Worker, and Family Engagement Facilitator. We reserve the option to remove your child from the program and use that space for a child on the waiting list.
Changes for pick up and drop off are to be made using the Change of Information form. Fill out the form and give it back to the teacher for processing. It could take up to three working days to implement the change. Changes will not be made without this form. If a child misses the bus, it is the parent/caregiver’s responsibility to bring the child to the ELC. The ELC staff can’t pick up and drop off your child.

Car Riders:

Please form a line of cars in the front parking lot and do not allow your child to leave the car until you are parked in the designated drop off area where an ELC staff is supervising. Children may not enter the building before 7:30 a.m. Children arriving after teachers leave the drop off area must be brought to the front office, signed in, and then walked to the classroom. Be sure the teacher sees your child enter the classroom. We discourage tardiness. We reserve the option to remove your child from the program for excessive tardiness and use that space for a child on the waiting list. Teachers will bring the children to the front parking lot area. Please remain in your car as you park in the designated pick up area. We will provide a colored tag with your child’s name to be displayed in the front car window. A teacher will assist your child in entering the car. If the car tag is not displayed, you must park in the parking lot, walk to the front office, and show picture identification before picking up your child. All pick up persons must be listed on the enrollment card or emergency card unless a note has been sent to the teacher. Please pick up your child promptly.

Walkers:

If you walk your child to the ELC, please walk on the sidewalk and not on the side of the street. Only cross the road when directed by the crossing guard. Only cross the road at the designed pedestrian crossing if the crossing guard has left. Please make sure your child is with his or her teachers before you leave. If you are late and the teachers have gone to their classroom, the child must be brought to the front office, signed in, and then walked to the classroom. Be sure the teacher sees your child enter the classroom.
